What is no-lift shift?

I want to buy a muscle car, but I noticed a lot of them are equipped with a no-lift shift transmission. What is a no-lift shift? Does it have any benefits over a regular manual transmission?

Originally developed with drag racing in mind, General Motors rolled out a transmission that could be shifted at high RPMs without the driver having to take their foot off the gas pedal.
