How do you jumpstart a BMW?

My BMW battery hasn't been working right this winter. I'm worried it may give out and want to be prepared. How do you jumpstart a BMW?

I’m glad you’re asking as knowing how to
jumpstart your car
is important, regardless of if you have concerns or not! To jumpstart a BMW, follow these steps:
  • Pull the release under the dashboard to open the hood.
  • Locate the terminals in the engine designed to jumpstart your BMW. When you do this, you’ll see a red plastic cover with a + symbol on top of the positive terminal.
  • Connect your red (which is positive) jumper cable to the positive terminal.
  • Connect your black (which is negative) jumper cable to the negative terminal. This is located on the vehicle frame.
  • You’ll need to do the same on the other vehicle that is jumpstarting your car.
  • Turn on the ignition, but don’t start the engine. You’ll want to wait ten seconds to ensure your battery is charging.
  • Start the engine.
This should bring your BMW and battery back to life. If it doesn’t work, you may have to call a tow truck or replace your battery.
Since you have battery concerns, a Jerry roadside assistance plan is a smart investment. With
Jerry
in your pocket, you’ll never have to worry about being stranded again. Jerry’s roadside assistance includes jump starts, lockout service, key replacement, and towing for as low as $4.16 a month.
