I’d like to buy a new car, but I really only have time to shop on the weekends. I’m pretty sure my insurance agent wouldn’t be available, so how do I get car insurance on the weekend?

If you’re going to shop for a new car over the weekend, it’s a good idea to talk to your insurance agent beforehand to learn about your provider’s policies.
If you already have an insurance plan, some insurance companies have a grace period in which your current policy will cover a new car for a set period of time before you formally add it to your plan. If your provider offers this, you would be able to buy the car on a weekend and then add it to your insurance policy during the week.
Large insurance companies often have weekend customer service lines available. You may be able to purchase insurance online, as well, depending on your provider.
If your insurance company doesn’t provide any weekend options, you could pick out your dream car over the weekend and ask the dealership to hold it until Monday.
