How do you get a urine smell out of car vents?
I’ve noticed in the last couple of days my car’s AC has started to smell really badly like urine. How can I get a urine smell out of the vents?

Oh no, that sounds terrible! There is a silver lining, though, as it’s unlikely that the smell is actually urine. Typically, it is a build-up of mold, mildew, and bacteria.
Luckily, there is an easy way to fix it:
- Turn on the AC: Turn the fan to its highest setting and open all the vents. Make sure to open your window.
- Spray Lysol or another anti-bacterial cleaner: You want to spray it into the cabin air intake vents to ensure it saturates the entire system.
- Spray the air intake vent outside: With the AC still running, spray the cleaner into the air intake vent outside of your car. The vents are at the bottom of your windshield on both sides of your car.
- Wait 10 minutes: Leave your car running for 10 minutes.
While this should solve your problem, an additional step is to replace your cabin air filter as well.
