How do you get a driving permit in Texas?
I just turned 15 and I want to take steps toward getting my driver’s license. I know you need a learner license first, but my parents don’t know the process. What’s the easiest way to get a learner license in Texas?

Congrats on turning 15! That alone checks off the first step in getting your learner license.
- Complete at least six hours of driver’s ed classroom instruction.
- Visit the DMV with proof of the following: U.S. citizenship, Texas residency, identity, Social Security number, and enrollment in school and driver’s ed.
- Complete the driver’s license application.
- Provide your signature and thumbprints, and have your photo taken.
- Pay the fee of $16.
- Pass the vision exam.

After you get your driving permit, hit the road with a licensed adult to start practicing! Don’t forget that once you get your
