How do you find someone else’s car insurance company after an accident?
I was in an accident last night and need the other driver’s car insurance information. But they drove away before I could get it. Can you get someone’s car insurance info after the fact?

If you failed to get someone else’s car insurance information after an accident, your next best bet is to call the police. However, if you didn’t file a police report or get the other driver’s license plate number, the police may not be able to help.
You can also visit the Department of Motor Vehicles. But again, you will need some information about the other driver, such as the person’s name, their insurance company’s name, or their license plate number. You will also be required to explain why you need the other driver’s insurance information—and may even need to provide proof.
The truth is you should always get the other party’s insurance information immediately, while at the scene of an accident. This will save everyone involved time and stress and make the process of filing an insurance claim simpler.
