How do you enter the code for your Honda Civic radio?

I had to unplug my battery and now the radio isn’t working. Every time I turn it on, it asks me for a code. What do I need to do to enter the code for my Honda Civic radio?

While it may be a nuisance, radio codes are helpful for
preventing theft
—since stolen radios are rendered useless without their codes. Luckily, codes are easy to come by for the rightful owner. Follow these steps to enter the code for your Honda Civic radio:
  • Start by locating your code in either your owner’s manual, on the Honda website, or at a local Honda dealer.
  • Once you have your code, turn on the radio.
  • When it prompts you to enter a code, use the radio preset buttons to enter it. For example, if your code is 33362—press 3 three times, then 6 once, and 2 once.
  • After you put in the code, the system should unlock itself!
Hopefully, these steps will help you unlock your car radio. If you’re still having trouble with the system, bring your car to a local Honda dealer and let them fix it. There may be a small service fee, but it’ll be worth it to get your radio back in working order.
