background
The sound system in your Honda Civic resets after you change the battery. Here’s how to find the radio code that will unlock it.
  • You may need to enter a five-digit code to unlock your Honda Civic’s radio if your battery has been disconnected.
  • Locate your radio code in the glove box or owner’s manual, or by looking it up with your VIN or radio serial number.

How to find your Honda Civic radio code

Pro tip: Before you start looking for your radio code, try pressing and holding the power button on your Civic’s radio for a few seconds to see if your system unlocks. You’ll only need to use the radio code if this doesn’t work.
There are two places you can look for your five-digit Honda Civic radio code:
If you’re unable to find the code in the glove box or owner’s manual, you can look it up using your Honda’s
vehicle identification number (VIN)
and your radio’s serial number.
Your VIN can be found on the sticker on your driver’s-side door frame.
To find your radio’s serial number:
  • Turn your car on, but don’t start the engine.
  • On your radio, press preset buttons 1 and 6 simultaneously.
  • Hold the presets until a 10-digit number appears on your display.
  • This is your radio’s serial number—write it down.
Once you have the VIN and radio serial code, use one of the following resources to look up your Civic’s radio code:
  • Use Honda’s
    online tool
    .
  • Call Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009
  • Visit your nearest Honda service center or dealership
