How do you dispute a car insurance claim against you?

I got in an accident, but the other person was also being negligent. Ultimately, they filed a claim with my insurance, which has been approved, but I don’t believe I’m exclusively at-fault. How can I dispute this claim?

I’m sorry to hear how everything has turned out after your accident. If you want to dispute a car insurance claim against you, collect relevant evidence and file an appeal with your insurer.
Most insurance companies have an internal dispute resolution process where challenged claims are reviewed. Make sure you present any medical bills, police reports, eyewitness testimonies, or pictures of damage that could help prove you’re not exclusively at-fault.
If this doesn’t work out and you’re unable to reach an agreement, you can try to turn to the courts. However, you’re not guaranteed a hearing from a judge, and the time and expenses required to try might not be worth it.
Anytime you’re in an accident or file a claim, your insurance rates risk increasing after your next renewal date. This can be a great time to change your insurance, or at least look around and see if you can get a better deal.
