How do you get over a fear of driving in the mountains?
I want to take a trip to Lake Tahoe with some of my friends, but I’m terrified of driving on narrow mountain roads in the snow. How do you get over anxiety about driving through the mountains?

is a beautiful state, and Lake Tahoe is a great place for a trip with friends. While driving through the mountains can be scary, people do it every day without much trouble!Here are a few strategies to get over your fear of driving in the mountains:
- Focus on the road. Some people get scared of driving when they think of the entire situation. So, while driving in the mountains might seem overwhelming, focusing on the road in front of you can keep you present and alert.
- Prepare for the what-ifs. When we get scared, one of the first things we do is jump to worst-case scenarios. But you can use those situations to help prepare. If you’re worried about snow, get some good snow chains. If you’re worried about getting stranded, pack food, water, andemergency gear. Use those pre-trip jitters to your advantage!
- Talk to your friends. Try to remember that you’re not alone in this scenario. If you’re going with friends, ask if one of them would rather drive. Alternatively, you can tell them you’re nervous and enlist their help to make the trip as smooth as possible.
Hopefully, one of these suggestions will help you feel less anxious about your trip. For ultimate peace of mind, make sure you have great car insurance—including roadside assistance or towing and labor coverage—before you go
