How do you check if a car is insured online?

My grandmother wants me to help her out with a couple of things and is adamant that I drive her car to do so. I’m pretty sure she has insurance coverage, but I want to double-check. Are there any ways I can quickly check to make sure she is indeed covered before I get into the driver’s seat?

It is a great idea to double-check insurance coverage before driving, as driving without it is illegal in almost every state. Due to privacy reasons, your best bet is to ask if you can see her
proof of insurance
card. You’ll want to know where it is in case you get pulled over or are in an accident while driving.
If she can’t find it, see if she remembers which company she’s with and you can call their 24/7 hotline and help her find the information. You can also try logging into their online website (with her help, of course).
As a last resort, you can reach out to your state department or local DMV to see if you can help her find her policy information, as they keep records of proof of insurance.
If for some reason her insurance has lapsed or she needs new coverage it can be done quickly and efficiently with the

app. Jerry collects all of your information from your existing insurer. Choose from competitive quotes from up to 50 top insurance companies and Jerry takes care of the rest—securing your new policy.
