How do you change the car key battery in a Honda Accord?
Is there any way I can change the car key battery for my Honda Accord? For about two weeks now, the key has been working sporadically. It’s making it impossible to unlock my car from a distance.

When your car’s key fob battery is on the fritz, it’s a major inconvenience. Luckily, you can change the battery in your Honda Accord’s car key easily by following these steps:
- Purchase the right battery. Check online or in your Honda Accord manual to find the correct type of battery your key fob needs. You should be able to pick one up at your local auto shop, hardware store, or online.
- Remove the metal key by pressing the button on your key fob. The metal key should slide right out.
- Pry the key fob open by inserting the key or the edge of a flathead screwdriver into the seam of the key fob.
- Take out the dead battery and remember the position of the positive and negative sides of the battery.
- Put the new battery in, paying special attention to the positive and negative sides.
- Press the key fob back together.
