How do you add yourself to your parents’ car insurance?

I’m moving back home to save some money for a while, and I know that if I live at the same address as my parents, I can be a part of their policy. Is there a way that I can just add myself to my parents’ car insurance policy?

Joining an existing
car insurance
policy is certainly a great way to save money! However, there is no way for you to add yourself; your parents would have to
add you to their policy
. To add you to your parents’ car insurance, your parents can contact your insurance provider or their provider’s website. Here’s the information they’ll need:
  • Name of the new driver (you)
  • Date of birth
  • Gender
  • Social Security number
  • Occupation
  • How long you’ve had your license
  • Any recent traffic violations
If you plan on making this addition permanent, it may be a good idea to help your parents shop around for a new policy that might better suit you all financially. The
Jerry
app is a fantastic tool for shopping and comparing car insurance. We’ll get you and your parents personalized quotes from top-of-the-line providers, so that all you need to do is pick the plan that works best for you all. And once you pick a plan, we’ll even help you all switch over easily!
Best of luck with the move, and with getting insured!
