I’m purchasing my first car, and the Kia Optima caught my eye. I want a car that’s reliable, inexpensive, and cute! Is the Kia Optima a good choice?

We’re happy to help! The Kia Optima is a pretty good first car. It has above-average reliability scores, is decently priced, and dare we say… it’s cute?

  • The average price of a 2020 Kia Optima ranges from $22,000 to $29,000, depending on its condition and mileage.
  • RepairPal rates the Kia Optima 4.0 out of 5.0 and ranks it eighth out of 24 vehicles in its category.
  • The Kia Optima boasts a spacious cabin, user-friendly infotainment system, and a comfortable ride.
  • Any downsides? The Kia Optima has subpar fuel efficiency (21-27 mpg city/ 30-37 mpg highway) and is less fun to drive than its rivals.
Of course, cuteness is in the eye of the beholder, but we think the Kia Optima is pretty cute!
