How do toll roads work in Illinois?

I just moved to Chicago for a job, but since it’s so expensive in the city, I’m looking at places in the suburbs. The only issue is that I’m probably going to need to take toll roads to go to work. Can you tell me how toll roads work in Illinois?

Toll roads in Illinois work a little differently because they do not have manned toll booths.
Instead, you’ll have to pay for your toll by one of the following means:
  • I-Pass: If you plan on taking toll roads frequently, getting an I-Pass is your best bet. Refill your pass online and enjoy 50% cheaper toll prices.
  • Pay by plate: This is a good move if you infrequently take toll roads. Sign up online, and you can pay by credit card online within 14 days of using the toll. Keep in mind that tolls are more expensive with this method.
  • Invoice in the mail: If you’re rarely going to take a toll road, you can skip the I-Pass and pay by plate. Illinois Tollway will send you a bill in the mail to the address where your car is registered. Just make sure to pay it within 14 days of receiving the invoice to avoid fees and penalties.
Keep in mind: Since you just moved to the state, you’ll have to get
