How do I remove points from my driving record in Maryland?

I have a few tickets that I’ve received since I’ve lived in Maryland. I also noticed that my car insurance rates have gone up as a result. Is there any way to remove points from my driving record if I live in Maryland?

Unfortunately, Maryland is one of the few states that doesn’t allow you to remove points from your
driving record
through a defensive driving course. The only ways to remove points from your driving record in Maryland are either through expungement or waiting for the points to expire (two years for most infractions).
However, the Maryland state government has made expungement easier than ever. If you get a ticket, Maryland will automatically expunge it from your record if you’re eligible. To be eligible for expungement, here’s what you need:
  • No violations within the past three years
  • Your license hasn’t been revoked or suspended
  • You have no criminal proceedings against you
  • You’re not on probation
If you want to lower your
Maryland insurance costs
even further, a great place to start is by shopping and comparing car insurance with the
