My friends and I are driving up to Yosemite this weekend. How do I pack a car for a road trip so that we can fit all of our stuff and still be comfortable in the car?

What a beautiful place to visit! Packing a car for a road trip is all about prioritizing the essentials and maximizing the space you have.
The first step to loading your vehicle with
road trip essentials
is to know what your car can handle. Take into account the number of people you’re putting in the vehicle as well as all of their stuff. Putting too much weight in the car can lead to safety and visibility hazards and leads to frustration anytime you guys need to dig through bags to get something. To give yourself more space, invest in roof racks or a rooftop cargo box. Next, make sure you’ve packed enough water and snacks to last the duration of your trip and then add in some more for emergencies. Give each item in your cargo area a specific place and make sure to return it to that spot when you pull it out. Knowing where the snacks are makes it much easier to satisfy your road trip cravings as you drive.
After you’ve organized the car and have everything and everyone packed in, be sure to organize your car insurance policy, too. Unexpected roadblocks (pun intended) happen on roadtrips, so consider adding roadside assistance for some added peace of mind.
