How do I open the gas tank on a Chrysler?

My grandma gave me a car for my birthday. It’s a Chrysler and it’s pretty cool, but I don’t know how to work it yet. How do I open the gas tank?

What a nice grandma! The exact steps will vary by model and year, but, in general, to open the gas tank on a Chrysler, follow these steps:
  • First, make sure your vehicle is parked and turned off.
  • Push the fuel filler door release switch located in the driver’s door map pocket.
  • Exit the vehicle and open the fuel filler door.
  • There is no fuel filler cap. Simply insert the fuel nozzle into the filler pipe and begin refueling your vehicle.
That’s it! When you hear a clicking sound or when the fuel nozzle shuts off, this indicates the fuel tank is full. Keep the nozzle in the gas tank for an additional five seconds to allow it to continue to drain. Then, simply remove the nozzle and close the fuel filler door.
Consult your owner’s manual for the recommended fuel type to use in your Chrysler. That said, many Chryslers require regular unleaded gasoline, which is the most affordable option.
