How do I find out if someone else has car insurance?
I was in a two-vehicle collision this morning. The other driver refuses to exchange insurance information, but I have his name and license number. Is there a way to find out if he has car insurance?

. If you’ve asked for the other driver’s insurance information, be prepared to give them your information as well. This is the correct protocol after a two-car accident.
You also can request insurance information from the police if you’ve been in a collision and the other driver does not want to exchange information. Be sure to provide the other vehicle’s license plate number and the incident report when asking for the insurance information.
You can make the same request with your local DMV. Once again, you’ll need some basic information on the other driver, and you must have a good reason for asking for the information—like a car accident. Finally, reach out to your own insurance agency if you cannot find out if the other driver has insurance.
