How do I clean up my driving record in Louisiana?

I recently received my very first speeding ticket. A friend suggested that taking a defensive driving class could clear my driving record, but I don’t know if that’s true. How can I clean up my driving record in Louisiana?

Once an offense has been recorded, you cannot remove it from your driving record in
Louisiana
. However, since you recently received a
Louisiana speeding ticket
, there's a possibility to prevent it from being added to your record by attending your court hearing.
The judge may rule to reduce the violation to a nonreportable offense (such as a parking ticket) or dismiss the charge entirely.
If you have a copy of your driving record and notice any listed violations or convictions, it is too late to address them. Although driving violations do not disappear from your driving record, their impact will lessen over time.
To avoid accumulating further violations or accidents that negatively impact your driving record, it’s best to obey Louisiana traffic laws and drive responsibly.
