How can I test an electric Club Car motor?

I have an electric Club Car golf cart that I’ve been using a lot this spring. But with summer rolling around, it gets pretty hot on the course and I’m worried about the heat degrading my golf cart’s motor. Just wanted to ask you guys how to test an electric club car motor. Where do I start?

Testing the motor of your
electric Club Car
can be accomplished by following these steps:
  • Park your golf cart on a flat surface.
  • Turn the key to the off position, and remove it.
  • Using a jack, place your golf cart on jack stands to help you see the undercarriage of the golf cart. The electric motor will be located near the rear of the vehicle.
  • You should see four wires labeled A1, A2, S1, and S2. Mark or take a picture of where they connect to the motor and then remove them.
Then you’ll test the motor by connecting a fully-charged 12-volt battery to the electric motor’s battery posts. From this point, you’ll follow these directions:
  • Connect one of the negatively charged jumper cables to the negative post on your fully-charged 12-volt battery.
  • From here, you’ll connect the other end of the same negative jumper cable to the S2 post on the electric motor.
  • Connect your positive jumper cable to the positive battery terminal on the 12-volt battery. Then connect the other end of the same positive battery cable to the A2 terminal on the electric motor.
If your motor starts turning, then you know that it’s working properly and there are no wiring or electrical current issues affecting the motor.
However, even if your electric Club Car’s motor is working properly, you could still be overpaying to have it insured. That’s where Jerry can help you stay on par. If you want cheap
