How do you change the speed setting on an electric club car?
I bought a little electric car for dirt cheap from a closing golf course nearby. I use it for getting around my property with my kids, but it’s too slow. I want to make it faster by changing the speed setting. How do you change the speed setting on an electric club car?

Good question! Speeding a golf cart up can be done a variety of ways, whether by changing the governor or purchasing a speed code changer from the internet. Souped up golf carts can be a whole lot of fun to tear around in.
When you’re doing any kind of modification, make sure you’re safe. If you’re touching any wires, safely disconnect the power first.
The first method we have is to play with the governor on the golf cart. This method is for people who are pretty comfortable with mechanics, and confident in their abilities. Think of the governor like your mother’s voice as you were growing up, saying “Too fast!”
We can turn her voice up or down by removing the back panel at the rear of the golf cart. Bring a flashlight so you can see the 11 mm bolt that’s right in front of you. Loosen that bolt so you can turn the pin above it. Turning it right (or counter clockwise) will slow the golf cart down. Turning it left (or clockwise) will make the golf cart go faster.
If you’re not mechanically inclined, you may choose to go for Ann electric code changer. These go into the computer inside your golf cart, changing the speed settings there. Each one is different, so make sure to read the instructions of whichever you find online.
