How can I know if my insurance covers rental cars?

I'm going on a trip with my family at the end of September, and we're looking at rental cars. However, we want to make sure we’re properly insured for the trip, and we’re not sure if coverage is enough. How can you check if your insurance covers rental cars?

Good question! You should check the details on your
car insurance
policy to view the types of rental coverage that could be available to you. If you don’t have immediate access to your policy, then you should contact your provider and talk to an agent who can explain the details of your policy regarding rental coverage.
Additionally, if you have
liability
and
comprehensive coverage
on your policy, most insurers will cover a rental car in the United States.
In all likelihood, if the value of the rental car is on par with that of your personal vehicle, then most insurance plans will be fine for a rental vehicle.
However, if you think you might need a new insurance policy, you may want to check out the
Jerry
app. We’ll get you customized quotes from top providers so that all you need to do is pick the plan that works best for you. And once you choose one, we’ll even help you switch!
Enjoy your trip, and bon voyage!
