How can I clear my driving record in Florida?

I’ve accumulated a lot of points on my Florida driving record, and they’re starting to really hold me back. Is there any way I can clear my Florida driving record?

You’ll have limited options to clear your driving record in Florida depending on how new the violations are:
  • Old violations that are already on your record: Your only option is to wait three years for the
    points from your violation
    to expire.
  • New violations that are still in litigation: You may be able to complete a
    driver improvement course
to keep points from a new violation off your record. Contact the court that’s handling your ticket to request this option.
You can find a list of driver Florida driver improvement courses on the
FLHSMV website
. These courses can be taken in-person or online and typically only cost $25.
Keep in mind: Your
Florida license will be suspended for 12 or more points
on your Florida driving record. A driver improvement course may be your best bet to save your driving privileges, but there are limits to how often you can use this option:
  • You can only use a course to avoid points once in a 12-month period.
  • You can’t use a course to avoid points more than five times.
