Does Vermont have toll roads?

My friends and I are going to spend a couple weeks in Vermont this fall to enjoy the scenery, and we plan to do a lot of driving. Should we expect toll roads?

Vermont in the fall is beyond beautiful, so you and your friends are in for a real treat. Vermont actually does have a few toll roads, and since your purpose for heading to the state is to sightsee, you’ll probably encounter most, if not all, of them:
  • Equinox Skyline Drive is a scenic toll road to the summit of Mount Equinox that costs $20 to drive, plus $5 per passenger.
  • The Burke Mountain Toll Road takes you up Burke Mountain (weather permitting) and costs $20 to $40 depending on the day of the week.
  • Mt. Mansfield Toll Road takes drivers to the summit of Mt. Mansfield and offers scenic views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks. It costs $23, plus $8 per passenger.
Vermont tolls can only be paid with cash, so be sure you’ve got enough to cover them before you head out. Luckily, even though you’ll be spending a pretty penny on toll roads to see the most beautiful parts of Vermont, you can offset that cost by saving money on your
