Does Missouri require front license plates?

My job just relocated me to Kansas City, and I’m super excited to experience a new city! Being the super planner that I am, I want to make sure everything goes swimmingly, especially with my car. Do I need to get front license plates in Missouri?

Missouri is one of 31 states that requires a front and rear license plate—but don’t stress. It’s not any more expensive to get two plates vs. one. However, Missouri only gives you 30 days to register your car, get a driver’s license, and title your vehicle in the state, so you may need to act quickly.
Fees for everything you need are as follows:
  • A Missouri driver’s license costs $26 for three years or $52 for six years
  • Titling the car has a $14.50 fee
  • Your plates and registration are lumped into a single fee with options to pay $51.25 for a single year of registration or $102.50 for two years
