Issues with starting your vehicle can result from a faulty or damaged alternator. Honda's
Powertrain Warranty does not cover the vehicle’s alternator, but your Honda Limited Warranty covers it! All new Hondas have a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain and a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty. Here’s what each of them covers:
5-year/60,000-mile Powertrain Warranty
The powertrain is the powerhouse for your car and includes the following parts:
Transmission and transaxle
Honda’s Powertrain warranty covers everything involving repairing and replacing any parts associated with these systems.
3-year/36,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty
All new Hondas automatically receive a New Vehicle Limited Warranty, which covers several components, such as the air conditioning, battery, audio system, and other electrical components.
Other items covered by the limited warranty include:
Key fob
and remote batteries (6 months)Wiper blade inserts (6 months)
Wheel balancing and wheel alignment (1 year or 12,000 miles)
Air conditioner refrigerant (2 years or 24,000 miles)
Since your alternator is an electrical component, not a mechanical component, it is covered by your Honda’s limited warranty. As long as you haven’t exceeded the warranty’s timeframe or mileage limits, you should be able to have your alternator repaired for free by Honda.
