Does home insurance cover cast iron pipes?
Some of the cast iron pipes in my house have cracked or begun to leak, and I’m worried my home insurance policy won’t cover the damage or repairs. Will my home insurance cover the old cast iron pipes?

I’m sorry to hear about the problems you’ve had with the pipes in your house, but home insurance typically won’t cover cast iron pipes.
Due to known issues with cast iron pipes, such as their tendency to rust, corrode, and fail, most insurance companies list them as an excluded item. However, before you pay for the damage and repairs out of pocket, you should contact the insurance company and see if there is any way they can help.
