Does Florida have a ban on texting while driving?

I just moved to Florida, and I want to familiarize myself with the local driving laws. Texting while driving was banned in my previous state, but I don’t know if it is here. Does Florida ban texting and driving?

In 2019, Governor Ron DeSantis signed a law banning texting while driving throughout
Florida
.
If you’re caught texting while driving, you face:
  • $30 fine for your first offense
  • $60 fine and three points for your second offense
  • Fines, points, and possible jail time determined by a judge for each subsequent offense
So even if texting while driving was legal in your previous state, doing so in Florida may cost you dearly through fines, points, and a possible increase in your car insurance rates. If you can’t keep yourself from doing it, lock your phone in the center console or glove box to reduce the temptation.
Since you just moved to Florida, remember that you also need to switch your car insurance over. Every state has different requirements, so you want to make sure you’re covered. And if you want to save some extra cash on a purchase you need, use the
