I’ve been hearing a lot about apps that track your driving to help you save money on car insurance. I’ve had a car insurance policy through AAA for years but have never asked about these kinds of programs. Do they have a telematics app?

You’re in luck! AAA uses telematics through their app, AAA Drive. Safe drivers can earn discounts of up to 30% on their AAA car insurance premiums.

To use AAA Drive, you’ll need to download the mobile app and enable location services. This allows the app to automatically track:

Speed
Braking
Acceleration
Distracted driving
The time of day you drive

Safe driving behaviors will lead to insurance discounts that will remain in effect as long as you continue to use the app. Unsafe driving won’t lead to increased premiums, but it also won’t lead to any discounts.
