Do I need glasses for driving?
I was just prescribed my first pair of glasses ever, and I’m still getting accustomed to how they feel. Sometimes they’re a bit uncomfortable. Do I have to wear my glasses while I drive?

Glasses can be hard to get used to! But if you need to wear corrective lenses to see, you will need glasses for driving.
When you go to the DMV to get or renew a driver’s license, you’ll typically have to pass a vision test. Requirements vary by state, so check with your local DMV for specifics.
If you already wear prescription lenses, you can wear them during the vision test at the DMV. The state will likely place a restriction on your license requiring you to wear your lenses when driving, as well.
If you’re concerned you may need glasses for driving, keep a lookout for these symptoms:
- Blurred vision

- Squinting
- Halos around bright lights
- Eyestrain
- Tired or irritated eyes
