Can your home insurance get canceled due to the age of your home?

I received a letter from my insurance company that says they're canceling my coverage due to the age of my home. Is this common? What should I do?

“An insurance company can cancel your home insurance at any time for a variety of reasons, including the age of your home.
You will have to reach out to your home insurance company to determine whether reinstatement is possible. You may need to update certain aspects of your home, put a new roof on it, or get it inspected to get your home insurance coverage back.
If reinstatement isn’t possible, you’ll need to shop around for a new home insurance company. While the age of your home may matter to your current insurance company, another company may be okay with it.
When shopping with other companies and requesting quotes, be sure to give the correct information about your home. Doing so will prevent a cancellation in the future.
If you have a separate
car insurance
policy with another company, you can see if they offer home insurance. Bundling your home and auto with the same company is a great way to save money.
