Can you flat tow a Ford Ranger behind a motorhome?

I just bought a Forest River motorhome, and I’m itching to get it out on the road for a camping excursion and to visit some national parks. However, I also love off-roading, so I want to take my Ford Ranger with me. Is it possible to flat tow a Ford Ranger behind a motorhome?

Sounds like some great adventures are on your horizon! You can always flat tow a Ford Ranger behind a motorhome, regardless of the drivetrain—at least in models made from 2019 on. First- or second-generation models of the Ford Ranger can also be flat towed, but you’ll have to be a bit more cautious.
Early editions of the Ford Ranger made from 1983 to 2003 can be flat towed behind a motorhome, but only if they have a manual transmission. Models from 2004 to 2011 can be flat towed if you have a manual transmission. You can also flat tow automatic versions from this era, provided that you put the transfer case in neutral and the Ranger has four-wheel drive.
