Can you drive without insurance in Iowa?

My insurance premiums have gone up this past year, and I'm considering canceling my policy. Is it illegal to not have insurance?

“Driving without car insurance is illegal in Iowa, and if you are caught without it, you will be subject to a fine of $250, or you may carry out community service instead. You may also face impoundment of your vehicle.
