Can I drive a Tesla without insurance?

I just bought a Tesla. Do I need car insurance on it?

“Regardless of the make and model, any vehicle registered to legally operate on the road is required to carry their state’s minimum coverage car insurance.
Failure to carry such insurance can result in:
  • fines
  • license suspension
  • jail time for repeat offenders
Because a Tesla is a more expensive model, you should consider carrying a higher amount of coverage on it. State minimum car insurance liability car insurance normally isn’t enough to fully cover damage or injuries in a major accident.
To protect your vehicle, you should almost certainly get comprehensive insurance and collision insurance. This will help pay for damage to your vehicle in the event of an accident or mishap, regardless of whether you’re at fault.”
