Can a home insurance company cancel my policy due to the age of the roof?

I just got a letter from my home insurance company stating that they were canceling my coverage based on the condition of my roof. A roofer said it still had about five more years. Can the insurance company cancel my coverage because of the roof? What do I do now?

A home insurance company can cancel your coverage due to the age of the roof. It doesn’t matter that you had a roofer look at it, as your insurance will always want to go with their guy to inspect the roof.
In this case, you may want to avoid the hassle of arguing with the insurance company and find a new policy.
If you already have

with a provider, that’s a good place to start looking. You can bundle your home and auto policies with the same company and save money.
