Are all Kia Souls electric?

I want to buy an electric car, but I don’t have a lot of money. I heard that the Kia Soul is an affordable electric vehicle, but I thought it was a gas-powered model. Are Kia Souls electric or not?

You’re right: the
Kia
Soul is a small gas-powered SUV. But the rumors you’ve heard about it becoming an EV aren’t complete fiction — some Kia Souls are electric, but there are no electric Kia Souls in the U.S. The South Korean automaker created an electric version of the Soul but eventually decided not to sell it in the U.S. The Soul EV was expected to start around $35,000, a price range shared by only three electric SUVs: the Mazda MX-30, the Chevy Bolt EUV, and the Hyundai Kona Electric. The Mazda MX-30 doesn’t quite stand up to current EV standards. With an EPA-tested battery range of only 100 miles, it’s a tough vehicle to rely on. On top of that, it’s only sold in California right now, so it does little to help the average American make the switch to electric. The models from Chevy and Hyundai, on the other hand, open the world of electric vehicles up to a whole new demographic of drivers hoping to move their families around in a car that’s better for the environment than their previous vehicles. Both models can travel about 250 miles before needing to recharge, and still provide ample cargo space and legroom. That said, EVs under $40,000 are still slim pickings. But there are other ways to save on the transition to an electric car, from the federal tax credit and incentives from state governments to
