Am I allowed to sell my car if an insurance claim in still being processed?
I filed an insurance claim after a vandal smashed my car window with a cement block. Days later, my neighbor made an offer to buy my car. I want to sell it, but the claim is still open.

Unless the car needs to be sold quickly for emergency purposes, I recommend holding off on the sale until the claim is wrapped up.
Any payout from your
car insurance
company must be in the name of the titled owner. If you sell the car and transfer ownership to your neighbor, you’ll complicate the claim process and possibly delay repairs to the window.View full answer
