Is the Ford Tremor Package Worth It?

Ford trucks
need no introduction at this point. The company’s F-150 has been the most popular vehicle in the country for 40 years, and its other pickup models don’t do too badly for themselves either.
But one segment of the truck market
Ford
hasn’t completely dominated over the years is the off-road community. The specific design of other vehicles like the Toyota Tacoma and the Jeep Wrangler have managed to attract more attention from 4x4 fans.
Enter the Tremor package. Ford has played with this moniker before, but since 2020, the name has referred to the off-road-ready upgrade for its pickups. The company first offered the package for its Super-Duty and Ranger models, but this year, you can get it for an F-150 as well.
Ford’s Tremor package is ready to take any truck to the next level.

Ford’s Tremor Package: the F-150 specs

Deciding whether to go for a Ford Tremor has everything to do with how you intend to use your new truck. Drivers looking for something to haul a trailer or transport tools to and from the worksite probably don’t need the extra expense attached to the Tremor package’s capability.
For off-road enthusiasts, it’s a different story. F-150 Tremors get a 400 hp, 3.5-liter, EcoBoost V-6 10-speed automatic with 500 lb-ft of torque that can tow up to 10,900 pounds and has a maximum payload of 1,885 pounds—all for a starting price of about $51,000.
Ford fans will know about the Raptor, the F-150’s $63,000 off-road trim. The Tremor opens the F-150 up to off-roaders with a little less cash to spend, but for a truck with a base price of only $31,000, even the Tremor is a big leap.

What are the Ford Ranger Tremor specs?

In the Ranger, the Tremor package is available on the XLT and Lariat trims and includes 18" magnetic alloy wheels with all-terrain tires, an upgraded suspension, an electronically locking rear differential, and exterior accessories like skid plates and fixed metal side steps.
On the XLT, the package bumps the truck’s price by six grand to just under $42,000. Add the package to a Lariat, and you’ll pay an extra $4,000. That’s pretty steep, considering you can hop into a base-trim Ranger for only $26,000.
But again, choosing the Tremor package is all about the reason you’re buying a truck in the first place. If you’re looking for a shiny new rock crawler, but you don’t want to break the bank, the Tremor package might be a good fit.

How to save on car insurance for your 4x4 truck

If you plan to go off-roading in your new truck, you’ll want to take a good look at your car insurance policy beforehand. In most cases, a basic policy will limit what it will cover off-road, and you’ll have to add bodily collision and comprehensive insurance to your policy to protect you when you’re out trail hunting.
On top of that, truck insurance tends to be more expensive than car insurance. But don’t let that fool you into believing that you can’t save on car insurance. Finding deals and discounts is easy if you shop with
