- How to find the best car insurance
“Which car insurance company is the best?” Here at Jerry, we hear this question a lot. Truthfully, there is no simple answer.
Car insurance policies are as unique as the drivers who need them, and a multitude of factors are taken into consideration when you are requesting a quote. As a result, the best insurance company for you, is not necessarily the best for everyone.
However, the team over at U.S. News and World Report have sought to answer the question once and for all, by surveying nearly 5,000 American drivers who have filed a car insurance claim within the last five years. The participants were asked to rate their insurers on value for money, customer service, and the claims process. Survey results were aggregated into a score out of five, and here are the results:
Not all car insurance companies are created equal | Twenty20
1. USAA 4.45/5
The top spot goes to USAA who scored high marks in all categories. Policyholders were particularly impressed with how easy it is to make a claim, and for receiving frequent updates during the claims process.
USAA’s excellent customer service is reassuring, as USAA is only available to military members, veterans, and their immediate families.
2. State Farm 4.11/5
In second place (or first if you don’t have a connection to the military!), is State Farm.
Founded way back in 1922, State Farm is now the largest car insurance provider in the country. It seems this experience is paying off, as customers praised State Farm for providing value for money and a simple claims process.
Some survey respondents felt that State Farm should provide more updates regarding the status of claims, but most were planning to renew their policies, which is a good indicator of customer satisfaction.
3. GEICO 4.08/5
Rounding out the top three is GEICO, who also scored well on customer service and ease of filing a claim. Some policyholders felt rates should be lower, but most would still recommend GEICO and are planning on staying with them when it’s time to renew.
While USAA, State Farm and GEICO take the podium spots, close behind are Farmers, American Family, Progressive, Travelers, and Allstate, all of whom scored highly for overall satisfaction, but had mixed results for the claims process and perceived value for money.
How to find the best car insurance
When looking for a car insurance policy, you should consider the coverage types you need in addition to the cost. The cheapest policy might make you happy in the short term, but when it comes to making a claim, you could be left frustrated by poor service, or worse, inadequate coverage. Far too often, drivers are left paying for repairs out of pocket following an accident.
So how do you find the best car insurance company to fit your individual needs? One that provides all of the coverage options you need at a great price? By comparing car insurance quotes with Jerry, that’s how!
