What does Tesla Valet Mode do?

With Valet Mode engaged, your Tesla will:
  • Restrict speed to 70 mph. If you prefer a lower speed, you can customize your preference using “Speed Limit Mode.”
  • Restrict performance to “Chill,” reducing acceleration by 50%.
  • Lock the glove box and frunk (the trunk remains accessible).
  • Protect your personal information by hiding addresses, contacts, and calendars.
Valet Mode also disables the following:

  • Voice commands
  • WiFi
  • Bluetooth
  • Navigation
  • HomeLink
  • Smart Summon
  • Upgrades

How do I enable and disable Tesla Valet Mode?

To enable Valet Mode while in your Tesla:
  • Step 1: Put your Tesla in Park.
  • Step 2: Tap the driver icon at the top of the Controls screen.
  • Step 3: Tap Valet Mode.
To enable Valet Mode via the Tesla mobile app:
  • Step 1: Launch the app.
  • Step 2: Go to Security, then Valet Mode.
  • Step 3: Toggle Valet Mode to Enable.
The first time you access Valet Mode, you’ll be asked to set a four-digit PIN, which will allow you to disengage Valet Mode. 
Follow these steps when you’re ready to disengage Valet Mode:
  • Step 1: Repeat the steps outlined above to access Valet Mode settings in your car or via the app. 
  • Step 2: Tap Valet Mode.
  • Step 3: Enter the four-digit PIN you established at first access.
Valet Mode will be disabled, and you can drive your Tesla as usual.
