These plans include an electric pickup truck that many people speculate will be a version of the classic Toyota Tacoma.Toyota hasn’t released much information yet as far as the truck’s exact design, so we’re not certain yet that the EV will actually be a Tacoma model. Still, the vehicle looks very similar to the newest Tacoma design, and some of the other information that we have about this truck points to the Tacoma as a base model.
What we know right now
While the information about Toyota’s upcoming electric truck is limited, there are a few things that we know for sure:
- It will be good for off-road driving. Off-roading requires certain tires and performance qualities, and the upcoming electric truck has promising specs on both fronts.
- It will probably cost between $45,000 and $55,000. Toyota’s latest electric SUV, the bZ4X, starts at $42,000, so it’s reasonable to expect the electric truck to cost closer to $50,000.
- It’s smaller than other electric pickups. Based on the prototype photos from Toyota, their electric truck will be a little smaller than some of the other options on the market. However, this could mean that the pickup is more powerful!
A look at Toyota’s electrified future
The electric truck isn’t the only electric vehicle Toyota plans to add to its lineup. For example, the brand just released a new electric SUV: the 2023 bZ4X. This new SUV is a plug-in electric vehicle with good reviews for comfort, which bodes well for the upcoming electric truck.
