Even though it’s not quite like driving a gas-powered Mustang, the Mach-E accelerates with quick confidence that’s fun to handle. Add on a well-appointed cabin, decent cargo space that’s ready for whatever you throw in it, and the fact you won’t have to pay inflated gas prices, and the Mustang Mach-E is an attractive crossover EV.

What is the horsepower of a Mustang EV?

The Mustang Mach-E comes with either a standard 70.0-kWh battery or an extended-range 91.0-kWh battery pack. Both power a single or dual electric motor mounted on either the rear or both axles.

For the lower trims with the standard battery and rear-wheel drive, 266 to 346 horsepower is average with between 317 and 428 pound-feet of torque. In the GT and GT Performance trims with all-wheel drive, you can expect 480 horsepower and up to 634 pound-feet of torque.

For comparison, the aforementioned VW ID.4 only produces between 201 and 295 horsepower depending on whether or not it’s equipped with all-wheel drive.

What is the range of the Mustang EV?

The Mustang Mach-E averages between 211 and 305 miles, depending on which battery pack and motors are installed. This isn’t very impressive when you hold these numbers next to a Tesla, but anything over 300 miles is generally considered good when it comes to EVs.

The Mach-E has fast-charging capability and with a Ford mobile charger can restore:

30 miles of range with a 120-volt outlet overnight

80 percent of its battery overnight with a 240-volt outlet

32 miles per hour and fully recharge the battery overnight with a Ford charge station

Is the Mustang EV reliable?

Unfortunately, the Mustang Mach-E isn’t high on the reliability charts, scoring only a 60/100 (“Fair”) from J.D. Power. There have been recalls due to “potential overheating of the high voltage battery main contactors,” and it’s unclear what the future of the current model will hold.
