The conversation around electric vehicles (EVs) is often dominated by names like Tesla, but
Mercedes-Benz
is looking to make an impact in the EV market.
Mercedes has committed to an
entirely electric lineup before 2030
, and their EQ line of electric vehicles has been impressing critics. One of their upcoming models is the Mercedes EQE.
According to
CarWow
, the Mercedes EQE is a technological marvel of a vehicle. Mercedes-Benz is also outdoing itself with a performance model of the EQE known as the Mercedes-AMG EQE.

The Mercedes EQE shows off the future of luxury sedans

In terms of design, the Mercedes EQE is a sleek, almost spaceship-like sedan. Fans of Mercedes' EQ line might think that the EQE looks familiar, and that's because it largely resembles the EQS, another Mercedes electric sedan. However, It has features that set it apart.
The EQE is powered by a 90-kWh battery that produces 292 horsepower. With this battery, the sedan can go an impressive 410 miles on a single charge. There is no word on its maximum speed yet.
To accompany its futuristic design, the EQE features innovative technology, starting with over-the-air updates. These will allow drivers to get software updates for the car that can be downloaded anywhere.
Additionally, the EQE has an intuitive infotainment system known as the Hyperscreen, which consists of three screens across the dashboard.
It's hard to definitively state that the EQE has any downsides since it has not been released to the public yet, but it does have some odd design choices.
For example, EVs often have storage space under the hood, as there is no gas-powered engine occupying that space. With the Mercedes EQE, though, the hood cannot be opened, meaning there is no extra storage space.

Add more power to the electric sedan with the AMG EQE

Mercedes is committed to showcasing a variety of different EV models for different drivers, such as their
concept for an electric G-Wagen
. According to
Car and Driver
, Mercedes has a more powerful version of the EQE, the AMG EQE.
Instead of the 292 horsepower found in the regular EQE model, the AMG EQE puts out 617 horsepower. With this power, the AMG EQE can get from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.2 seconds.
Other aspects of the AMG EQE are the same as the original model, meaning that it has the same battery and will likely have a similar range. However, its interior does have slightly changed features to resemble more of a performance vehicle.

How does the Mercedes EQE compare to other EVs?

In terms of its design, the Mercedes EQE is most comparable to the famous Tesla Model S. Until the EQE is released, there is no final verdict on which is faster or more fun to drive. However, the EQE's maximum range of 410 miles is more than even the longest-range Model S.
Price is an important factor in comparing cars, and unfortunately, it's another factor that we will have to wait for. The EQE's price has not been revealed yet, though CarWow has estimated that it will cost around $80,000.
