As a car company, Cadillac
has offered several luxury vehicles to their customers over the years. Two of their newer models, the XT4 and the Lyriq, are already turning heads. Considering Cadillac's history of exciting their customers, both models will likely delight drivers everywhere. But how do these cars stack up against each other? And which one offers the better value for your money? Jerry
has all the info for you. The 2022 Cadillac XT4 pushes the luxury SUV further
The 2022 XT4 delivers higher performance than you would expect from a luxury SUV, with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 235 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque with premium gasoline. Cadillac paired a nine-speed automatic transmission with this engine for quality power and performance.
Drivetrain options include a front-wheel drive that earns an estimated 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway and all-wheel drive that earns 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. Active Sport Suspension helps keep the ride smooth and responsive, while a four-wheel independent suspension system brings comfort on any terrain.
For the interior, the XT4 gives drivers and passengers a lot of space, with cargo space nestled behind the folding rear seats. In addition, the infotainment system is chock full of features, including a seven-speaker stereo, an eight-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and Bluetooth capability, all controlled by a traditional rotary controller and an intuitive panel layout.
As listed by Cadillac
, the XT4 is priced starting at $35,795. Cadillac breaks into the EV market with the 2023 Lyriq
While Cadillac has built a solid reputation for luxury, they've also had trouble capturing the attention of younger, more modern drivers. The 2023 Lyriq aims to change this and bring Cadillac's image into the future.
Driving on General Motors' scalable Ultium Battery Platform, the Lyriq has a near 50/50 weight distribution for a lower center of gravity in the vehicle's rear-wheel and all-wheel drive options. As a result, the Lyriq's EPA-estimated range goes up to 312 miles with a Cadillac-estimated 340 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque with rear-wheel drive. Meanwhile, the all-wheel drive delivers an estimated 500 hp, with range and torque figures still pending.
The five-seat interior of the Lyriq is plenty spacious, offering 28 cubic-ft. of cargo storage space. For technology, the Lyriq features built-in Google compatibility with Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play, in addition to wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a 19-speaker stereo system, and a 33-inch curved LED screen that also serves as the driver's gauge display.
The 2023 Lyriq's price tag starts at $62,990, according to Cadillac.
Which of these two is the ideal vehicle for consumers?
Both the Lyriq and the XT4 offer performance seamlessly integrated with luxury. However, the Lyriq edges out the XT4 with more horsepower and torque, as well as far more prominent driver technology. And although large touchscreens in cars seem to be on their way out, the Lyriq's seamless integration makes it work.
While the XT4 has quality performance compared to many other cars, it’s average in terms of luxury SUVs. In addition, the XT4's engine can be noisier in the cabin than you would expect from a luxury vehicle. The Lyriq not only offers greater horsepower and torque but also has advanced noise-canceling technology to reduce road noise in the cabin for greater comfort.
Though the Lyriq's starting price is significantly higher than the XT4's, the extra cost can be justified in the multitude of features, better performance, and greater comfort the Lyriq offers.
