One of the best parts of a long drive is stopping along the way for a meal! There are tons of places to try some local cuisine on or just off of I-95. Here are a few options:
- Sally Bell's Kitchen(Richmond, VA): A takeout-only bakery, this gem closes at 4:00 pm daily. Offering southern-style baked goods, Sally’s white cardboard lunch boxes tied up with string give it a special touch.
- Emma's Breakfast(Quincy, MA): Emma’s offers family-friendly and affordable breakfast fare. Emma’s takes cash only and is open Wednesday through Saturday mornings.
- Walter's Hot Dog Stand(Mamaroneck, NY): Operating since 1919, Walter’s is a national historic landmark off of exit 18A. Beef, pork, and veal hot dogs are available with Walter’s homemade mustard along with New England clam chowder. Walter’s is open all year-round from 11:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
- Harold's New York Deli Restaurant(Edison, NJ): Located right off of I-95 is an authentic and delicious deli. Harold’s offers a pickle bar, cheesecakes, matzo ball soup, and generous deli sandwiches. Reliably open between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. any day of the week.
- Bob's Clam Hut(Kittery, ME): A local stalwart, Bob’s offers chowder and lobster rolls among other regional dishes. You can order at the window and feast at a picnic table nearby. Open seasonally.
