background
The 2023 Ford F-150 maintains its three cab configurations—the Regular Cab, SuperCab, and SuperCrew—and three box lengths to accompany them: 5-foot-5, 6-foot-5, or 8-foot beds. The F-150’s enormous towing capacity and roomy bed max out its functionality.
The Ford F-150 is probably top of the list when you think about a pickup truck. One of the best-sellers for decades, it has evolved into a modern-day icon with an all-aluminum body, turbocharged powertrains, an available hybrid, and even an all-electric singling.
Whether you’re looking for practicality, comfort, or efficiency, the F-150 ticks all the boxes—and that doesn’t even touch on Ford’s best tech features. With a towing capacity up to 13,000 pounds, there’s not much the F-150 can’t do. Boasting plenty of configurations ranging from a basic work truck to a full-on luxurious hauler, there’s no question why it’s the favorite light-duty truck.
But if you’re not up-to-date on towing specs, how much can your F-150 move? Lucky for you,

2023 Ford F-150 truck bed dimensions

Like most pickups, the Ford F-150 offers a few choices when it comes to bed sizes thanks to a selection of cab configurations: Regular Cab, SuperCab, and SuperCrew. However, depending on the trim level, the box configurations do vary.
In general, there are three box lengths:
  • 5-foot-5
  • 6-foot-5
  • 8-foot
The two base models—the XL and XLT—offer the greatest number of cab setups and box length configurations, while higher trim levels offer a more limited selection.
But just how big are the beds? Take a look at the dimensions of all three bed sizes:
5-foot-5 bed:
  • Bed length: 67.1 inches
  • Bed width: 50.6 inches
  • Bed depth: 21.4 inches
  • Total cargo volume: 52.8 cubic feet
6-foot-5 bed:
  • Bed length: 78.9 inches
  • Bed width: 50.6 inches
  • Bed depth: 21.4 inches
  • Total cargo volume: 62.3 cubic feet
8-foot bed:
  • Bed length: 97.6 inches
  • Bed width: 50.6 inches
  • Bed depth: 21.4 inches
  • Total cargo volume: 77.4 cubic feet
But an ample rear cargo space in the bed isn’t the only thing the 2023 F-150 offers. Depending on your powertrain, the F-150 maxes out at a best-in-class payload capacity of 3,325 pounds. And with a towing capacity hitting 13,000 pounds for the 5.0-liter V-8, it goes head-to-head with some of the best-in-name pickups like the
Chevy Silverado
(1870 to 2280 pounds),
GMC Sierra
(2240 pounds), and
Ram 1500
(2,320 pounds).

2023 Ford F-150 cargo bed specs

Although the bed isn’t the biggest in its class, and the tailgate doesn’t do anything spectacular like other full-size pickups, the available power up-and-down feature and tailgate step are helpful.
One feature you don’t often find in other trucks is Ford's in-bed power system called Pro Power Onboard. It’s available with three power ratings: 2 kW, 2.4 kW, and 7.2 kW, although the 7.2-kilowatt system is only available with the 3.5-liter hybrid powertrain. Whether plugging in small household items on a camping trip, charging tools, or throwing an epic tailgate party, it’s a unique feature that provides next-level convenience.
Plus, upgrading to higher trim levels gets you things like LED bed lighting, a power-locking tailgate, and a remote tailgate release.
