Where can I find my Lincoln’s paint code?

To find your Lincoln’s paint code, you’ll first need to locate your car’s label. Most of the time, this will be on the driver’s side door jamb or the door edge.
When you open the driver’s side door, you should see a white label with a barcode and a bunch of numbers and letters on it. Your paint code is a two-digit code—usually, one number and one letter—located near the words EXTERIOR PAINT or EXT PNT.
With your paint code at the ready, you can consult
this chart
to determine your Lincoln’s exact paint color. When using the chart to find your paint color, be sure you’re looking for your Lincoln’s model year.

What if there’s no paint code on the car’s label?

If you can’t find the paint code on the driver’s side door jamb, you’ll have to search for it by VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). Your VIN is a seventeen-digit alphanumeric code unique to your Lincoln.
Here’s where you might
find your Lincoln’s VIN
if it’s not on the driver’s side door jamb or door edge:
  • Many Lincolns have a metal tag fastened to the driver’s side dashboard, near the windshield that is visible from outside the vehicle.
  • The VIN can also be found on your registration, title, insurance policy, or other official vehicle documents.
Once you’ve got your VIN on hand, you can find the paint code either by searching online or by calling a Lincoln dealership.

Where can I get paint for my Lincoln?

Now that you know your paint code, it’s time to get some paint! You can order Lincoln touch-up paint
online
or in stores. Where you get it isn’t nearly as important, though, as what you get. You just need to ensure that you’re buying the paint color that matches your Lincoln paint code.

Paint touch-up tips

Finally, it’s time to make those
scratches
disappear and have your Lincoln looking McConaughey-worthy again. Here are a couple of pointers to make sure you get the job done right:
  • Before you begin painting, you should wash the damaged area with some soap and water.
  • Next, use a wire brush or sandpaper to remove rust.
  • Then, apply a layer of primer to the area you plan on painting. The primer then needs to dry overnight and be sanded down the next day.
  • Paint the prepared area with your Lincoln touch-up paint. You’ll need to apply multiple coats and allow at least 20 minutes between each layer of paint. Once you’re satisfied with the color, let the final layer dry overnight.
  • Apply a clear protectant using the same method you used to paint.
  • After a couple of days, you can also go in with a rubbing compound to really make your Lincoln gleam.
