background
Most Hyundai models have a 5x4.5 lug pattern, but there are other measurements you’ll need to know if you plan on swapping out your tires.
Hyundais are great family cars, good for anything from long road trips to your daily commute. But when all that action takes the wind out of your tires, you’ll need to know your Hyundai’s lug pattern before you can swap out your set.
Jerry

And if you're spending too much on

Why you should know your Hyundai’s lug pattern

You need to know your lug pattern before you replace your wheels. Your car’s lug pattern, or bolt pattern, is the number and spacing of the lug holes in your Hyundai’s wheels.
A lug pattern has two numbers: the first is the number of lug holes in your wheels. The second number is the diameter of the imaginary circle that those lugs make around your rims.
So if your 2018 Hyundai Elantra has a 4x4.5 lug pattern, your wheels have four lugs arranged in a 4.5-inch circle.
If your wheels need to be replaced because of wear and tear, or you’re trying to get new, stylish rims, you’ll need to know your Hyundai’s lug pattern

Lug pattern terminology 101

If this is your first time replacing the wheels on a car, you might feel a little overwhelmed by all the info in the table above. Don’t panic—we can walk you through the terms used in the table so you can navigate them easily.
OEM wheel size: OEM stands for “Original Equipment Manufacturer.” For OEM wheel size, it’s the diameter of your Hyundai’s original wheels. You need to know the right size before swapping out your wheels.
Lug pattern: The lug pattern is the number of lug holes with the diameter of the circle they form. This pattern (also called the bolt pattern) will help you find a wheel that fits your Hyundai.
Offset: A car’s offset is the distance from the mounting surface to the center of the rim, basically how deeply the center of your rim sits in your wheel. A positive offset means the wheels are pulled in towards the car; a negative offset means they’ll stick out on either side.
Stud size: Stud sizes are written in two different ways, depending on where the car is made. US fasteners are expressed as stud diameter x threads per inch (e.g., 1/2x20), while metric fasteners are written as stud diameter x distance between threads (e.g., 14mm x 1.50).
Center bore: A wheel’s center bore is the hole in the center of the rim, inside the circle of lugs. That hole can vary in size, so it’s important to know the right measurement.

How to measure your Hyundai’s lug pattern

If your Hyundai model isn’t on the list above, you can measure your lug pattern yourself using a ruler or measuring tape
Start by counting the lugs: most Hyundais will have five. Then, use your measuring tape to find the distance between lugs across the circle to find your diameter.
Place your measuring tape on the outer edge of any lug and measure across the circle. In a five-lug pattern, you’ll end up measuring between lugs. So, move the end of your ruler or tape measure to the closest lug on either side and measure to the center of the lug hole. The measurement you get is your diameter!
So if you count five lugs and measure a 4.5 diameter, your lug pattern is 5x4.5. It’s that easy!
