Knowing your lug pattern is an important part of finding rims that will fit your car. Toyota’s lug patterns vary from model to model, but the most common
Toyota
bolt pattern is 5x4.5.
If you are looking to fix a damaged rim, or buy a second set of wheels, then you’ll need to know your car’s lug pattern.
Here, we’ll introduce you to lug patterns, show you what your Toyota’s lug pattern is and how to measure it and go over some other essential wheel measurements. For all your car maintenance needs, the team behind

Why you should know your Toyota’s lug pattern

The lug pattern, also known as the bolt pattern, tells you the number and spacing of your wheel's lug holes. If you need to replace your car’s rims, knowing the lug pattern is an essential first step to making sure you buy the correct parts.
Lug patterns are written as two numbers: the first number is the number of lug holes, and the second is the diameter of the circle that would form if you were to connect all of the lug holes.
So, if you have a lug pattern of 5x4.5, this means that there are five lug holes arranged in a circle with a diameter of 4.5 inches.
If you find that the second number is much larger, that’s because you’re seeing the metric version where the diameter is presented in millimeters. So a bolt pattern of 5x4.5 is the same as a bolt pattern of 5x114.3

Lug pattern terminology 101

If you don’t know the terminology used for the table above, then the numbers and letters probably don’t make a ton of sense. Let’s define our terms to help you out.
OEM wheel size: This is the diameter of the original wheels that came on your Toyota. OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer.
Lug pattern: As mentioned, the lug pattern denotes the number and spacing of your wheel’s lug holes.
Offset: Offset refers to the distance between the mounting surface of a rim and the centerline of that rim. Negative offsets will give you rims that jut out, while positive offset rims will sit closer toward the center of the car. Most Toyota’s have a medium or large positive offset.
Stud size: This tells you the length of the studs that attach your wheel and the density of the threads. In the US this is usually written as stud diameter x threads per inch, but it is also common to see the metric measurements which are expressed as stud diameter x distance between threads in millimeters. The metric stud sizes are what is presented in the table above.
Center bore: This is just the size of the opening in the middle of the wheel that centers it properly on the hub. Center bores are usually measured in millimeters.

How to measure your Toyota’s lug pattern

If you didn’t see your Toyota on the table above, no worries, measuring your lug pattern is quite easy.
The first step is just counting your lug holes, which will give you the first number in your bolt pattern. Next, you’ll need a ruler or tape measure to measure the diameter of that imaginary circle.
If you have an even number of lug holes, you just measure from the center of one hole to the center of the hole across from it.
If you have five lug holes, there’s a trick to getting an accurate measurement without any guesswork. Start your measurement on the outside edge of one of the lug holes, and measure across to the middle of one of the opposing lug holes.

FAQs

Yes! 5x114.3 is just the metric conversion for a 5x4.5 lug pattern.
While the bolt pattern on some Toyotas is very similar to the bolt pattern on some Chevies, they are usually not quite exact. Even if the lug pattern is the same, don’t forget that you also have to consider the other wheel dimensions like center bore size.
